Each of these 1/10 oz American Eagle gold coins is 16.5 mm in diameter, and struck with 916.7 (22 karat) gold as is traditional for this series of coins. They still contain a tenth of a troy ounce (3.11 grams) of pure gold, with copper added for a total weight of 3.39 grams. They are legal tender in the US, with a face value of 5 USD. The 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle coins were first issued in 1986 and have continued each year since.

The reverse will feature one of two designs. The 'Type I' design by Miley Frost, which features an eagle flying into a nest with its family, which was used until 2021. The 'Type II' design was done by Jennie Norris, and features a close-up of a bald eagle head. Both designs show the face value and '1/10 OZ. The obverse of the coin features the iconic Lady Liberty holding a torch in one hand, and olive branch in the other. The design was by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The obverse also includes the year of issue, and the inscription LIBERTY.
