The U.S. Mint debuted the flagship 1 oz American Gold Eagle in 1986 and insatiable investor demand led to the minting of over 23 million of them.

The American Gold Eagle line of coins is minted from crown gold, which is a wear-resistant alloy comprised of 91.67% gold, 3% silver, and 5.33% copper.

Like its larger counterpart, the 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle features Lady Liberty holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand on the obverse side, and a bald eagle on the reverse side.

The 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle coin is legal tender in the U.S. and has a US$10 face value.
